The Optio Sling Pack from Cannae is a lightweight carry all for the daily commuter, the gray citizen and the adventurer.
From the outside working our way in, the Optio Sling Pack has two zippered pockets on the front. These pockets allow for quick storage of cell phones, sunglasses, snacks, and keys. I like that the pockets are independent of each other so I can keep my gear separate and organized. One of the pockets has a soft lining for delicate items like your sunglasses. If I was traveling extensively with this bag, I wouldn’t store my valuables in these pockets due to the ease of entry in crowded areas and possible slashing of the pockets. The fabric is a strong 500D Cordura Nylon so the thief would need to carry a sharp knife and move fast.
The next compartment in the Optio Sling Pack provides the user with amble organization for cords, money, pens, maps and chargers. The real reason for this pocket is for your firearm, if you choose to conceal carry. Your weapon can be secured on the flap for quick access. There’s a surprising amount of room in this part of the Optio Sling Pack. The zippers for this compartment are YKK interlocking for additional security while traveling.
The main compartment is easily opened and contents exposed with the clam shell exposure. You will find additional organizers in this pocket along with a 13″ padded laptop sleeve. The sleeve is generous enough to fit an iPad Pro, wireless headphones or a laptop. The Optio Sling Pack has the YKK interlocking zippers for this pocket as well. All pockets are independent of each other for an additional level of security.
The water bottle on the side is smaller than I would like, but you can still get a 8-12 ounce bottle in the pocket. The Optio Sling Pack has a stash pocket on the side for knifes (I love this one from SOG) or additional gear. Just be sure to remove the knife BEFORE you get to security at the TSA. No one likes shipping their knives home.
I appreciate the Optio Sling Pack for its low-profile look. It doesn’t look like I am armed and I like that. I have a smaller frame and the pack fits really nice. I love the ambidextrous sling for the days that I bike to work. The sling on the Optio Sling Pack is well padded and curved so it easily fits either side of the body. You can pull it snug for commuting and it doesn’t cut off the circulation in the brachial plexus.
The Optio Sling Pack also works great as a stash bag under a desk or under a seat in the car. You could easily get a set of clothes for an overnight trip in the main compartment.
The easy grab top handle is great when you need to store the Optio Sling Pack under a seat in the car or airplane. The buckles and zipper pulls are well thought out and can easily be used with gloves on.
The Optio Sling Pack isn’t the biggest of the packs you can get from Cannae but it packs apunch in features and durability. Like I have stated above, I love the smaller size so I can organize with the exact things I need and can easily keep it secure to me.
