SOG Prophet 33L Pack – Tactical Travel Versatility
I have been testing the SOG Prophet 33 Liter pack this fall as a replacement for my standard hiking & hunting pack.
SOG, known for its tactical gear, has been working hard to bring military-grade materials to consumer level products. The Prophet is one of it’s latest backpacks and I could not be more impressed.
- Internal Laptop Sleeve.
- Internal MOLLE Loop Field.
- Sternum Strap With Whistle.
- Internal Organization Pockets And Key Ring Clip.
- Webbing Lash Points And Hyperon Zinger Tabs.
The Prophet is made from 5000 Nylon, one of the most durable materials available enhanced with a water-resistant coating that makes this a genuine all-weather pack. The back features a nicely designed molded top pocket for binoculars, sunglasses, and snacks.
One great feature of the top pocket is the zipper pulls that are wide enough to pull open with gloves on, one of my biggest irritations while hunting is having to pull my gloves off to get in my pack.
For hunting, it was really nice to be able to strop my rifle in the long-carry section of the pack for the morning hike in.
The Hypalon Molle field on the sides was perfect for my SOG multi-tool and hunting knife and the 4 zippers on the main pack allow you to access any part of the main storage without opening the entire pack up.
The interior of the pack has a mesh zipped pocket as well as a field of tactical loops for attaching gear.

My only criticism was the relative weight of the pack, although no lightweight hiking pack ever stands up to a week of hunting so that’s a tradeoff that I am more than willing to make. Bottom Line: This is one of the best packs I have used – Highly Recommend!
SOG Baton Mutli-tool Series
New to the SOG family, these multi-tools build on each other and allow you to purchase the right tool for the user.
- SOG Baton Q3
Retracted, the Baton Q3 is sleek and slim enough to slip into any pocket of your pants or backpack. When opened, you have access to 13 tools (yes, there is a bottle opener) and wrench slim enough that even the slightest camper can use it. The tools all lock into place while in use ensuring stabilization while working. The blade on the tool is small but sharp. I prefer this multi-tool to the Leatherman or swiss army knife we have historically used. It all comes down to it’s sleek design!
One negative of this version of the Baton series is that it is not TSA approved. If you are interested in a multi tool that can be carried on a plane, the SOG Baton Q1 is your tool.

SOG Baton Q2
Have a college student or are you an urban go-getter? Another sleek design, the SOG Baton Q2 boast a bigger straight blade, flat screwdriver, flashlight and the ever important, bottle opener. Fits perfectly into pant pockets, backpack or tool pouches on bikes and in cars. Not TSA approved due to the straight blade.
With the ability to engrave, it makes for the perfect gift for the hard to buy for person (or yourself!).
- SOG Baton Q1
Perfect for the office jockey or the kid who wants his own multi-tool, the SOG Q1 is TSA approved and has all the administrative tools one needs. Complete with a ball point pen, flat screwdriver, scissors and a bottle opener. Sleek design allows it to fit into a shirt pocket, backpack or briefcase. Serious work can easily be accomplished with the Q1.
All SOG Baton Series range from $54.00-$120.00 at the time of printing. SOG can be found on their website or Amazon.com.
