The Phoozy is a simple rectangular construction with bright Christmas red soft material on the inside.
The top is closed with Velcro and is easily opened with red courtesy tabs.
How Our Testing Went:
I brought our sample with during a Labor Day weekend trip into the mountains where I could test it out in the chilly mornings, sun filled afternoons and its ability to float.
Our first test drive of The Phoozy was to throw it right into the lake.
What better way?! We loaded it with a small facial sunscreen, lip balm and a small rock provided by the kids.
And just like the Monty Python movie, it floats!
We opened it up and all the product was nice and dry. Now was the true test with my phone.
With my IPhone securely Velcro in, I tossed The Phoozy into the lake.
Our oldest was so excited about it that he jumped in and promptly retrieved it.
In his retrieval, he submerged The Phoozy in the lake and this allowed water into the interior.
We quickly opened it and a couple tablespoons of water poured out. Like any phone loving blogger, I began life saving techniques to ensure there was no water damage to my phone.
Fortunately, the only damage my phone suffered was a microphone and speaker that wouldn’t work properly for about 4 days.
A near miss! For the next version, I hope they create a zipper for the top to increase the water/moisture protection against your treasures.
At night, while camping I normally turn my phone off to protect against the elements and conserve battery.
While on this trip I kept my phone going without a dip in battery life by simply storing it in The Phoozy during the hotter hours of the day and cold nights.
Instead of the phone as a flashlight, the whole family relied on our awesome BioLite lights.
Pro Tips
The Phoozy cannot cool your phone down as the space suit technology maintains the temperature of the possessions within.
So, if your phone is over heated or too cold when it is placed inside it will stay that way until you find some shade or a ski lodge.
Hiking? Store your phone in this case and carabiner it to your pack.
There are others who have dropped their phones from heights around 30 feet and the phone survives with little to no damage.
