As a fan of adventure travel, I have a lot of gear—whether it’s clothing, packs, cubes, or totes. I generally use my gear until it dies, and I often extend its life by repairing it so that I’m not adding to the 92 million tons of textile waste every year (of which the United States produces about 17 million tons).

I’ve long been a fan of Cotopaxi’s Del Día and Teca collections, which use deadstock, which is leftover high-quality fabric unused by the original manufacturer or retailer. On average, a product made with deadstock has an estimated 30% smaller carbon footprint than if it were made with new fabric.

While I have a variety of these items, I was excited for my trusty pal, Mae, to test out Cotopaxi’s limited-release Del Día Pet Collection, which launched recently. The collection consists of dog bed, a dog collar, and a dog leash.

The Del Día Dog Bed has a cover that’s made with durable 100% deadstock fabric in earthy tones, and the removable insert is made from 100% leftover foam scraps that have been shredded for comfort. The cover is washable, which all dog people appreciate. The bed lists for $90.

The Del Día Dog Collar is made with durable deadstock yarn with hints of reflective fabric for added safety. It also has a dog tag loop and metal d-ring. The collar lists for $10 and is available in three sizes: small (11-14” in length), medium (14-20” in length), and large (20-26” in length).

The Del Día Dog Leash is made with the same kind of yarn webbing as the collar, and measures 78” long. It’s got a dog tag loop, la sturdy main handle with a secondary grab handle, and can be worn as a belt or crossbody. The leash lists for $20.

Aside from being sustainable, the great thing about having products made from deadstock fabric is that each piece is unique, made with colors that were available at the time. If your pup is a fashion fiend, that bit of info should be appreciated.
