Some of my favorite core pieces of an adventure wardrobe are shorts and long-sleeved shirts. The combination blends sun-coverage on top with freedom for my legs, especially because I’ve never been a huge fan of pants with zip-off legs.
Royal Robbins Women’s Hempline Short is a relaxed short made with a breathable hemp and recycled polyester blend that’s comfortable for the trail or just hanging around. It’s a pull-on short with an elastic waist that has a tie-front for adjustability. The hemp blend is comfortably stretchy and durable, yet soft. And it gets softer with use.
The short has two drop-in front pockets and one back drop-in patch pocket. For those who keep the environment in mind, there’s a blended undyed colorway that uses less energy, less water, and fewer chemicals than the traditional dying process.
The Women’s Hempline Short comes in Everglade (green), wild rhubarb, blended undyed, and a newly added color: Orion blue. It lists for $85 on the Royal Robbins site.
Royal Robbins Women’s Salathe Sun Shirt is a long-sleeved lightweight adventure shirt that doesn’t look like a rugged adventure shirt. The fabric is an ultralight, Bluesign-approved 100% polyester ripstop with a tight weave to block mosquitoes for chemical-free defense. It’s also got UPF 40+ sun protection, which blocks harmful rays to protect your skin.
The shirt has plastic snaps down the front, as well as on the elastic cuffs, which can adjust to seal out irritating insects. There’s even an extra button on the collar to protect against those same bugs or merely strong sun rays on your neck.
The Women’s Salathe Sun Shirt L/S comes in four new colors: lime cream (pictured), mahogany solar print, sunbeam solar print, and skyway solar print. It lists for $105 on the Royal Robbins site.
