Duffel bags are one of the most underrated pieces of travel gear. Whether you’re an organized packer who swears by packing cubes or the type that just throws things in and hopes for the best, duffels are incredibly forgiving. And in the case of the SPC/LST System Duffel, particularly good looking.

Versatile Duffel Bag

The SPC/LST System Duffel features 55L of internal packing space. Internal compartments keep items in place and ensure they are easy to access. On one side, there’s a padded pocket large enough to hold a 13” MacBook. On the other side is a line-up of smaller zip pockets handy for storing water bottles and smaller, but still important items such as keys, a cell phone, a wallet, or a passport.

This bag has been all over California with me, from a night at Okaeri Calistoga in Napa Valley wine country to a weekend at the beach at Santa Cruz’s La Bahia Hotel & Spa.

The SPC/LST System Duffel is made from waterproof Challenge Ecopak® recycled Cordura®. Don’t know what that is? Don’t worry. Cordura® fabrics are known for their durability, and that’s what this bag is all about. While I wouldn’t want to drop it in a lake, it’s been out and about on rainy days and is no worse for wear. I don’t check bags when I travel by air unless I absolutely have to, but I wouldn’t be concerned about handing this bag over.

The duffel can be used two ways: flat, like a portfolio bag (23.75in x 12in x 9in), or, if you prefer it to be shaped like a traditional duffel bag (23.75in x 12in x 9in), loops on all four corners can be clipped into a pair of carabiners. I prefer the latter, but the bag is conveniently easy to store when flat.

Good To Know

Designed to last, the rivet-enforced leather handles look good, but they don’t feel great when thrown over my shoulder. It’s not a deal breaker, but I’m hoping that with more time, they’ll soften a bit.

The SPC/LST System Duffel comes in just two colors: Ranger Green and Black. I tested the Ranger Green color, and while I appreciate how color can play a role in hiding wear and tear, I’d love to see a vibrant color option added to the mix. Cost is $350 on the SPC/LST website.

SPC/LST offers a lifetime warranty on its products. You can read the fine print here.
