When I travel, I try to hit the running trail or at least the tread mill every day. I also pack light, so my workout clothes have to double as travel clothes, and vice versa.

I’ve tested a lot of tights, quick-dry tanks, and warm-ups, but the following two items always seem to make their way in to my bag.

LL Bean Boundless Performance Capri:

ll bean capriMy seemingly standard pair of LL Bean capris come with me everywhere because they’re substantial enough to wear in the car or on the plane (they’re the thickness of leggings, not of tights), but also comfortable for working out in (they don’t sag or get loose, despite being crazy comfortable).

The Boundless Performance capri is a nylon and lycra blend, and dries pretty darn quickly in a hotel sink.

They have a matte look, not a shiny tight look, and after countless wears, they have kept their shape.

Moisture wicks nicely, which is essential if you need to wear a pant for more than one workout before washing. You also get UPF 50+ for those outdoor workouts on the go.

The Boundless Performance capri sits low on the waist for a contemporary fit, and comes in standard black or two patterns.

Herringbone is a black/gray/white pattern, and olive branch camo has an abstract, brushed look. Sizes are XXS-XL, and right now, they’re on sale for under $50…a bargain for your go-to travel workout pant.

Pearl Izumi Escape Thermal Full Zip

  • Warmth And Superior Moisture Transfer.
  • Keep Cold Air Out.
  • Zippered Hand Warmer Pockets.

If you cycle, you’re probably already familiar with Pearl Izumi, but if not, guess what?

This brand makes more than cycling clothing! I love their zippered shirts and tights, especially the Escape full zip. This long-sleeved, full-zippered light jacket is perfect for outdoor running, and later in the day, as a mid-layer if you’re skiing or active in the winter, and as a comfortable, thin jacket during fall and spring travel.

It’s the ideal multi-use layer to use whenever, wherever.

The Escape is described as ‘buttery’, and it really is. I’ve worn it against my skin on chilly runs and it’s wonderful. I’ve also worn it on top of a thermal layer on a snowshoe trek.

The inner material is a thermal fleece fabric that transfers moisture, and the center front zipper is full-lentth, with an internal draft flap and zipper garage.

You also get internal fist mitts for those really cold mornings, and thumb holes. I like the added touch of reflective strip placements for when I’m out late or early in the morning.

You also get cute string pulls on the sides, so you can ruch up the sides of the top if you want to, for a more playful look.

The Escape is a poly-elastane blend, and comes in three colors: indigo, smoked pearl, and purple wine. I have the wine color, but I don’t think you can really go wrong.

It comes in XS-XL and retails for $120, though per usual, you can find a slightly lower price on Amazon.
