It doesn’t matter whether you are on vacation or at home; proper protection from the sun is a must. If you like spending time outside, Strafe’s W’s Sopris Sun Hoodie offers UV protection and is comfortable in warm conditions.
Sopris Sun Hoodie Offers UPF 50 Sun Protection
I added this sun hoodie to my collection just in time for a winter trip to Maui’s Kaanapali Beach, and I found myself grabbing it at various points throughout my days on island, from morning walks and outrigger canoe paddling to afternoons on the beach. The Sopris Sun Hoodie delivers standard UPF 50 sun protection while also utilizing cooling tech the company refers to as the “brrr° Triple Chill Effect.”
The hoodie is made using 92% brrr° polyester with undisclosed cooling minerals, and 8% spandex. The result is sun protection gear that feels cool to the touch.

The long-sleeve shirt has a casual, relaxed fit and offers a comfortable amount of hang in the back. I always worry about the hood section of hoodies bunching up or getting in the way, but this one moves well and provides protection I didn’t count on – from my camera strap.
A last-minute thought, I grabbed the hoodie before boarding a three-hour whale watching cruise from Kaanapali Beach with Teralani Sailing Adventures. It was sunnier and warmer than I expected out on the water, and I had the hoodie on the entire time. I also never put my camera down because humpback whales were putting on a show in seemingly every direction. My camera hung around my neck for three plus hours in the heat with no irritation; the hoodie acted as a protective layer between the strap and my neck.
Perfect for travel, the Sopris Sun Hoodie folds up compactly, taking up very little room in a suitcase or backpack.

Care Instructions
I throw the hoodie in the washing machine on cold without concern, then hang it to dry. You don’t want to put it in the dryer.
The W’s Sopris Sun Hoodie currently only comes in two colors: Surf and Blue Waters. (I hope more colors get added to the mix.) I tested the lighter Surf color, and tend to opt for lighter colors when selecting warm-weather gear. Cost is $99 on the Strafe website.
