Looking for a sun hoodie that works for travel, hiking, paddling, and long beach days without feeling heavy or clammy? Strafe’s W’s Sopris Sun Hoodie is built for warm-weather movement, with UPF coverage and a light feel that makes it easy to keep wearing once the sun gets intense.
Sopris Sun Hoodie Offers UPF 50 Sun Protection
In this review, I focus on the details that matter most for active trips: sun protection, comfort under a pack or camera strap, fabric feel in heat, and whether it deserves consideration alongside the site’s better women’s travel clothing picks for warm destinations.
The hoodie is made using 92% brrr° polyester with undisclosed cooling minerals, and 8% spandex. The result is sun protection gear that feels cool to the touch.

The long-sleeve shirt has a casual, relaxed fit and offers a comfortable amount of hang in the back. I always worry about the hood section of hoodies bunching up or getting in the way, but this one moves well and provides protection I didn’t count on – from my camera strap.
A last-minute thought, I grabbed the hoodie before boarding a three-hour whale watching cruise from Kaanapali Beach with Teralani Sailing Adventures. It was sunnier and warmer than I expected out on the water, and I had the hoodie on the entire time. I also never put my camera down because humpback whales were putting on a show in seemingly every direction. My camera hung around my neck for three plus hours in the heat with no irritation; the hoodie acted as a protective layer between the strap and my neck.
Perfect for travel, the Sopris Sun Hoodie folds up compactly, taking up very little room in a suitcase or backpack.

Care Instructions
I throw the hoodie in the washing machine on cold without concern, then hang it to dry. You don’t want to put it in the dryer.
The W’s Sopris Sun Hoodie currently only comes in two colors: Surf and Blue Waters. (I hope more colors get added to the mix.) I tested the lighter Surf color, and tend to opt for lighter colors when selecting warm-weather gear. Cost is $99 on the Strafe website.
