When I’m packing for a trip, I often get discouraged by the number of electronics I’ve stashed in my bag. On especially intensive assignment trips, I’ll have the following: laptop, phone, camera, extra camera batteries, backup charger, flashlight, and all the cords to go with them.
Just one item being able to exist without plugging into the wall seems like a luxury, and that’s why I’m glad to pack the BioLite SunLight along, instead of a flashlight or headlamp.
The 100 lumen dimmable white lantern is small enough to fit in your cupped hands, and has a kickstand to make it stand up for hands-free lighting.
It has up to 50 hours of run time, so you don’t have to worry about it running out all in one night of camping, night trekking, or lighting your hotel room when the room’s “mood lighting” isn’t enough to allow you to see what you’re doing.
But when you do need to juice it up, just flip it around. The back panel is a solar panel that has an integrated sundial that ensures you’re getting a maximum charge at all hours.
Before you leave for the day, flip the solar panel to face the sun (adjust with the kickstand), and let it charge while you’re out adventuring. It’ll charge fully in 7 hours. If there’s no sun, the micro USB will allow a full charge within 2 hours.
The light panel allows you to choose from white, full color, or auto-cycle all colors in Party mode. I know you want to try Party mode. Who doesn’t?
The BioLite SunLight is available in teal, gray, and a 4-pack, and lists for $24.95 on the BioLite site. Don’t be discouraged if messaging says that they’re temporarily sold out, because it’s so popular that a new run is already likely ordered.
