With the earlier review of the SCOTTeVEST – or to refer to them as they themselves do, SEV – Microfleece Hoodie out of the way, it seems only fitting that we should examine a few more of their products. They are, after all, great additions to any traveler’s wardrobe, and the company itself is one of those businesses it feels good to patronize. Oh, it helps that items like their RFID Vest, which you’re about to read more about in the following review, make a great complimentary purchase when paired with RFID-vulnerable clothing like SEV’s Microfleece Hoodie.

SCOTTeVEST Convertible Pants

SCOTTeVEST onvertible Travel Pants

The first entry in this multi-item review is SEV’s answer to the carry-on luggage limit: SCOTTeVEST Convertible Travel Pants. Coated in Teflon so they resist water and stains with equal aplomb, these pants come in a variety of colors (basic black, blue, and various earth tones). They boast ten spacious pockets for the safe, comfy storage of everything from sunscreen to iPads, and when the time is right, they transform into shorts with nothing more than a couple of tugs on a zipper at knee level. By the way, these pants are made of 100 percent nylon, so in the event that you do somehow manage to get them wet or grimy, feel free to toss them in the wash – just don’t forget to de-pocket your stuff first!

MSRP: $85 USD

SCOTTeVEST Puffer Jacket

SCOTTeVEST Puffer Jacket

Maybe it’s something to do with global warming and the threat of missed opportunities, but whatever the reason, cold weather travel seems to be trending up lately. SEV has noticed, and they’ve answered the call with their Puffer Jacket. If you’re the type who likes to frolic in the snow and ice, this is the coat for you! It’s got pockets for everything – travel documents, electronics, hot beverage containers, and more. There’s even a built-in cleaner for your eyewear in the pockets dedicated to storing that and a cable management system for your electronics so you never have to take them out of their own dedicated pockets. In short, if this coat doesn’t have it, you don’t need it. Lightweight and lined in downy, quilted, nylon padding, it’s designed not to be bulky while simultaneously affording enough internal clearance to fit over a SCOTTeVEST Microfleece Hoodie. Get it in black or a red so vibrant it’ll stun you for a moment or two (in a good way).

MSRP: $190 USD

SCOTTeVEST RFID Vest

SCOTTeVEST RFID Vest

In the old days, a traveler’s biggest worry while abroad was probably pickpockets, scammers, and the like. As it turns out, not a whole lot has changed – they’ve just gotten smarter and have access to credit card skimmers. You can’t protect everything all at once (that’s what common sense and a strong password is for!), but for your most vulnerable items, there’s the SCOTTeVEST RFID Vest. RFID, or Radio Frequency ID, is one of the preferred methods by which people will steal your identity while you’re waiting to board a plane, train, ship, or what have you. Thanks to this vest’s RFID-hardened pocket, now stuff like your wallet and passport are safe from would-be thieves. Of course, it doesn’t end there! This is SEV we’re talking about! This vest has a staggering amount of storage for such a small piece of clothing – 26 pockets. You can fit just about everything you could ever want in here, but it seems mostly geared toward storing electronics, with pockets for iPads, cameras, a cable management system, more. There’s even a built-in eyewear cleaning surface on the pockets designed to hold your glasses. Oh, one more thing: This vest has been Teflon-treated for stain and waterproofing, but you can wash it in any standard machine if need be. As far as color choices, you can find this vest in black, navy blue, or in a variety of earth tones.

MSRP: $135 USD

All of these clothing items are, I would say, must-haves for the serious traveler. They work well as stand-alone items, but they really come into their own when you group them together. You can pick them up separately or jointly at scottevest.com.
