Despite having perfectly good travel pants that can handle a wide variety of occasions (comfortable enough to wear on the plane, stylish enough to wear in town, high-performance enough to wear on an adventure), I’m forever on the lookout for more. Pants that can do it all, or at least almost all, remind me of the child’s story about Goldilocks, and the search for things that are “just right.”

Lately, after testing the Prana Halle Jogger II pants, I’m inclined to place them in the Goldilocks camp.

Made from ReZion recycled nylon blend stretch performance fabric (95 percent recycled nylon and 5 percent elastane), the pants have 4-way stretch and are durable, which is ideal in travel clothing. Articulated seams at the knees allow a range of movement that extends beyond merely walking around and sitting, which makes the pants ideal to go from train to trail to tavern. The fabric is also UPF 50+.

The pants have plenty of pockets for you to stash and secure your small items. Back welt pockets have secure zipper closures. Of the patch pockets at the right and left side seams, one of them (the wearer’s left side pocket) has a secure, vertical zipper closure that’s relatively invisible. There are two front hip pockets, and one of them (again, the left side) has a coin pocket. That’s seven pockets, in all.

The mid-rise joggers have a functional zip fly and button closure, along with an interior twill-tape drawstring for an ideal adjustment, and the knit cuffs at the ankles are soft and comfortable. If you’re especially tall, the cuffs may hit a little above the ankles.

The Halle Jogger II pants come in solid colors (coal, earthbound, slate green) and print (sage camo) and list for $95 on the Prana site.
