Dopp kits might not be considered the most exciting addition to your travel gear, but they tend to go everywhere you do, so having a good one makes life on the road easier. Toiletry bags aren’t one size fits all; they come in all shapes and sizes. My current go-to is The Brown Buffalo CORDURA 105D Dopp Kit.
Large Dopp Bag
I’m a carry-on only kind of girl, so I’ll admit, at first I was worried The Brown Buffalo CORDURA 105D Dopp Kit would take up too much room in my bag. Larger than dopp bags I’ve carried in the past, the compartment is spacious, measuring 6.0” H x 12.0” W x 4.25” D (152mm x 305mm x 108mm). But it only took a few uses for the size to grow on me.
On top of the pouch is a sturdy, easy-glide YKK® RCPU2 zipper. At the left end, there’s a D-ring that I seem to naturally gravitate to when grabbing hold of the toiletry bag. And while I haven’t used the ring to attach anything additional to the kit, I like having the option.

My toiletries and make-up have never travelled so well. The pouch is comprised of DWR-Coated 1050D CORDURA® Ballistic Nylon with PU2 Backing and Challenge® Sailcloth EPX400. In simpler words, it’s constructed with high-performance fabric reportedly developed for military-grade body armor; it could be used to hold and organize a variety of items beyond travel toiletries, such as tech gear and tools.
All that said, the fabric is flexible, so unless it’s full, the dopp kit can also fold down near the top and become a bit smaller.
Bright Interior
I didn’t think much of the neon orange interior color when I first started using the dopp kit, but it almost illuminates the interior, making it easy to find exactly what I need, when I need it.
Another added bonus, the pouch is made with waterproof nylon, so it’s water resistant.
The Brown Buffalo Dopp Kit CORDURA 1050D comes in four colors: Black Multicam, Black Grid, Ballistic Black, and Ranger Green. Cost is $50 on The Brown Buffalo website.
