Growlers are certainly enjoying a rise of popularity thanks to the craft brew culture across North America, but while I enjoy a local beer as much as the next girl, a quality growler serves far more purposes than as a container for your IPA. When we travel by car, we use growlers as thermoses for everything from hot chocolate to kombucha, and in the outdoors, growlers keep drinks hot or cold while camping or skiing.

Drink Tanks Growlers

Drink Tanks Insulated Growler sports double wall insulation of durable 18/8 stainless steel and features a somewhat complicated but heavy-duty cap that seals vacuum tight, preventing any leaks and keeping your beer, cider or kombucha carbonated. It’s BPA free of course, and dishwasher safe. They come in two sizes: a huge 128-ounce version and the more humble 64 ounce, which I tried out. Each will keep drinks cold 24 hours and hot for 12 hours, and they have really sturdy handles for easy pouring. These handles are also great for hanging your growler from a peg in the ski hut or stringing it to your backpack. The fun part is, you can choose between no fewer than 16 colors.

You’ll pay $114 for the large growler and $74 for the smaller one…definitely an investment, but a solid one: these have a heft to them, and will last a long while. Certainly far longer than your glass refillable growlers you’re likely using now. Are they comparable to the other big guys making insulated growlers? Yes, and I’d venture to say that thanks to Drink Tanks’ nice carrying handle, they actually beat them out.

To go with your growler, Drink Tanks makes three sizes of insulated cups, ranging from 10-ounce to 20-ounce. Again, you get an absolute ton of colors to choose from, and each cup comes with its own lid with drinking spout, rubber-sealed to the glass. They’re dishwasher safe too, of course. We have found the smaller 10-ounce cups to be perfect for camping trips for filling with hot drinks, and like the larger ones for beer. They range in cost from $22.50 to $27.50…again, an investment, but for an item that will last you a long while.

Pick up a growler and a few cups directly on the Drink Tanks website or look for them on Amazon, though you only save a buck or two. Good luck picking a color…there are simply too many great ones to choose from! Let us know how you like it.
