There’s nothing especially exciting about searching for car mats to protect your vehicle’s interior. But it is exciting to think about all of the time you won’t have to spend cleaning your car when you find the perfect fit. I’ve spent the past few months testing custom floor mats and liners from 3W Auto-life; from sandy feet and spilled groceries to heavy scuba tanks, they’ve stood up to a summer of adventures.

Designed to Fit

Forget the one-size-fits-all approach. 3W all-weather floor and trunk mats are customized to the make, model, and year of your vehicle. Made using Thermoplastic Elastomer or TPE, the mats and liners are flexible and durable; they’re similar to rubber. However, according to 3W the mats and liners are comprised of at least 50% recycled material.

Car mats are the type of thing you forget about, until you have to spend hours vacuuming up lingering remnants of kids, energetic pets, road trips, and just generally messy outings. Water-resistant and easy to clean, I found all it took was a quick rinse and the 3W car mats were practically like new.

Like most beach lovers, I accept that having sand in my vehicle is an unavoidable, summer thing. While I’m happy with how the mats have kept the sand contained, I’m more impressed with how they’ve handled the constant stream of scuba tanks tossed in and out of the rear cargo space. The car mats still look good, and I haven’t had any issues with water hitting any of my automobile’s interior.

Good to Know

The cost for all-weather car mats vary depending on the car you drive. The set I received is listed for $269.99 on the 3W website, but a quick search found sets for other car makes and models for less.
