Here at PracticalTravelGear we love trying out new brands and after meeting the amazing people at Avalanche clothing we could not wait to get our hands on a few of their items to review.

Avalanche clothing is a family owned business that started in 1987 in Salem, Massachusetts.  Avalanche is dedicated to creating high quality outdoor and travel wear at affordable prices and based on our tests they really live up to that mission.

Gravity Half Zip

The gravity HalfZip is my new favorite spring/fall long sleeve hiking shirt.  I love the dual material construction that both kept me warm but not sweaty on a long hike in Mcall, Idaho this spring.

I wasn’t as sure about the extra long sleeves and thumb holes but quickly fell in love with them as the sun went down as I wasn’t smart enough to bring gloves.

The burnt orange color was both really nice looking as well as visible in the evening light.  The most amazing thing about this top is the price.

You can get it for under $50 bucks at the Avalanche store.  I don’t think you will find a better men’s top for the price anywhere.

Striker Top

Avalanche ClothingAvalanche set me a Striker top in early summer.

As with the Gravity, the Striker is a super affordable form fitting top.

I found myself throwing it on for both workouts and as my go-to shirt when out on the lake.

The shirt was fast drying and I got a lot of compliments from friends.

My wife particularly liked the horizontal pattern and thought it was a far more expensive shirt than it actually is. The Striker retails for around $42 on the Avalanche store.

We plan to do another round of tests on Avalanche Clothing over the coming months so check back as we continue to review what is becoming one of our new favorite brands Avalanche.
