This bespoke shoe company has made quite a splash on Instagram with its colorful, made-to-order shoes spurring plenty of “likes.” But, it really comes down to your own personal tastes with Undandy, the British company that allows you to design your own dress shoes from start to finish.
For starters, the shoes are handcrafted in Portugal. Instead of scouring the Internet for the perfect shoe design and pattern, the website walks you through all the steps required to make one of your own. You select the style of shoe you want (chukka boot, Chelsea boot, oxford shoe, etc), and then design the shape and decoration of the toe. Personally, I am a fan of the brogue patterns that Undandy offers as I can never seem to find the style and color and fit exactly in my size from other shoe companies.
Another unique feature that you don’t see in many shoes is the ability to have different colors of leather or fabric built into the design like suede, calfskin, or nubuck). You can have alternate colors on the stitching or shoe laces. The sole can be a different color with your own choice of optional engraving.
The options are not endless since the small company only has a limited number of the various shoe components. The website easily guides you through that process so that you know what is available, but initially, I had trouble finding the exact style and color that I wanted in my size.
The price varies with most shoes costing around $200 from the Undandy website. These high quality shoes even come with a cloth shoe bag to make sure that shoes remain in excellent condition even when traveling. It is best to have an idea of what you want the shoe to look like before you start designing it to avoid combinations that might look odd. Undandy shoes are a unique offering that is sure to earn compliments at your next dinner party since it is highly unlikely anyone else would have the same shoe design!
