When you think of comfortable shoes to wear around water, you might think of flip flops, or slippas. They’re an essential part of my footwear rotation. But when it comes to having casual comfort and exceptional grip and performance, not all flips are created equal.

Lately, I’ve been testing out the Chaco Rapid Pro Flip, and it’s a go-to slippa for comfort as well as ultimate water performance.

The company worked with professional raft guides to design the Rapid Pro Flip. They’re designed to tackle rugged riverbanks, rocky shore excursions, brewery outings, and road trips chasing the best water conditions. I’m currently using them as my go-to flip on trips when I need both serious water footwear and a casual sandal for chilling out after the hard stuff is over. I don’t like packing more footwear than I really need.

The Rapid Pro Flip straps are made from Repreve Jacquard webbing, and dry quickly after they’ve been doused. The toe post is reinforced for security and extra durability, so you don’t blow out your flip flop mid-adventure.

The flip has Chaco’s Luvseat footbed, with durable and long-lasting comfort and support certified by podiatrists. The outsole was designed in partnership with Vibram, with hardcore traction on wet river rock, groovy lugs, water egress, and micro siping.

Both the women’s and men’s Rapid Pro Flip comes in two colorways. Aquatic canyon clay (pictured) has a small pattern of yellow, blue, and orange that makes me think of a subdued rainbow trout. The more vibrant eddy aqua colorway combines blues, red, yellow, black, and white into a waterflow pattern. Pick your favorite for your next water excursion.

The women’s version lists for $100 on the Chaco site. The men’s version lists for the same price on the Chaco site.
