Folks tend to have routines when it comes to airplane travel. Some pack a good book, others a pillow and snacks. I never take off without compression socks.

I haven’t always been this way. In fact, when my doctor suggested the thought many years ago, I pushed back. Just the thought of putting on compression socks was uncomfortable. But after hearing the list of benefits including reduced swelling and a lower risk of blood clots, I promised to give it a try. Now, I can’t imagine traveling without them.

Swiftwick Aspire 12 Cmpression Socks

Compression Socks for Travel

Lately, I’ve been donning Aspire Twelve socks by Swiftwick. Resting just below the knee, they offer firm compression, (with 20-30 mmHg in the ankle) but it’s not a chore to put them on or take them off. This is especially appreciated when you are trying to do either when already sitting in an airplane seat.

If you are looking for cushion, these socks likely are not for you, but if you are searching for a breathable sock with a thin profile, Aspire Twelve socks are worth a look. They fit snugly and stay put. The toe box is seamless and strategically placed mesh provides ventilation. Somewhat surprisingly, I also like the textured feel of the mesh against my foot.

While I tested Aspire Twelve socks specifically for airplane travel, I could see them being a good fit for runners, hikers, and anyone who generally spends a good amount of time on their feet.

Made in the USA

All Swiftwick socks are developed and made in the United States. Constructed with 46% olefin, 43% nylon, 11% spandex, I appreciate that there’s not much to think about in regards to care. Just machine wash cold and dry on low.

Swiftwick’s Aspire Twelve socks are only available in black; I hope more color options are in the works. Cost is $29.99 on Swiftwick’s website.
