My first takeaway from the Showers Pass Trailhead Bamboo-Merino Hoodie is that it is incredibly soft. The weight of the 50/50 Bamboo to Merino Wool fabric is warm without causing you to sweat.

Construction

The 50/50 Bamboo and Merino Wool Cool Tech Fabric is comprised of Bamboo and Merino Wool fibers knit together for a hoodie that will be your go-to for fall and winter weather. The Bamboo adds softness and moisture wicking to the fabric. The Merino Wool is there for temperature regulation and stink reduction.

I tested out the Trailhead Hoodie at our local pumpkin patch on Firework night. I specifically chose the Trailhead Hoodie for the trip because the temperatures were to dip into the high 40s when the sun went down and I needed to see how warm it could keep me. I am ALWAYS cold!

I am happy to report that it kept me warm while we picked pumpkins, and ran through the haunted corn maze. Nothing like a chainsaw wielding zombie to get your blood pumping and sweat flowing. Even after our late night sweat, I wasn’t cold for the fireworks that were an hour later.

With temperatures around 45 Fahrenheit, and an apple cider Churro in hand, I was warm enough in the Trailhead to survive the night and enjoyed the fireworks. In fact, the jacket I brought I used around our littlest who was cold.

Funny enough, I was also testing out Lems Trailhead Shoes that night as well. Check out my review of them and be Trailhead from head to toe!

The Cut and Fit

The cut of the Trailhead Hoodie is relaxed and sits just off the body. The hood is generous enough to cover your head, even with your hair pulled into a bun. It is not big enough to fit over a bike helmet but would easily work under it.

The length of the Trailhead Hoodie easily covers the back. Brilliantly made with longer sleeves, this is a great hoodie for bike riding, running and hiking.

The size is true to size. I normally wear a size 4 and wear a small in the Trailhead Hoodie. Showers Pass has a great size chart on their website in case you feel you are between sizes or are ordering another Trailhead Hoodie as a gift.

Technical Aspects

Trailhead Hoodie provides you with 50+ sun protection without having to slather yourself in chemicals. The zippered kangaroo and back panel pockets allow you to carry small belongings with on your day trip without fear of them falling out during a ride. Reflective fabric can be found on the shoulders and the back. Placement that makes the Trailhead Hoodie ideal for bike riding.

Final Thoughts

The Trailhead Hoodie is an all-around great hoodie and deserves a space in your closet. From outings and bike rides to Sunday chores and s’mores, this hoodie will perform and keep you comfortable.

I appreciate the lack of hoodie strings which always get in the way of food, stuck in zippers and are basically petri dishes. I wish there were thumb holes in the sleeves so I could keep my hands extra warm while running or wearing gloves.

The Trailhead Hoodie comes in three colors. I am wearing the navy which is a great neutral. If you want one with a bit more pizazz, check out the beautiful Hollyhock. The Trailhead Hoodie retails for $125 on the Showers Pass website and a small selection can be found on Amazon.com.
