Whether it’s a business trip, a holiday get-together, or a sun-soaked vacation to someplace exotic, few things are more exciting than travel. Of course, the corollary to that statement is that packing for said getaway is just about the worst thing ever – or at least that’s the way things used to be.
Then the Pro Packing Cube burst onto the scene and changed everything forever. Sounds like a lot of hyperbole, right? Yeah, I thought so too. All I can tell you is that using is believing.
Saying these things are better than battling a suitcase is like saying an F-16 is a little faster on the straightaway than a Model T, so I won’t waste your time with all that.
I won’t even try and convince you that they beat the unorganized backpack – you ultralighters already know what a pain those can be.
No, what I’m going to do is just lay out some of the Pro Packing Cube’s best features for your consideration and let them do the talking for me. Ready? Great – let’s get started.
Price
First things first: Let’s talk money. As any traveler knows, your gear is your life on the road, and you get what you pay for. That said, we all want a bargain, right?
Sure we do! That being the case – Ha! Luggage puns are the best! – Pro Packing Cubes are an absolute steal at $25 USD each. As you’ll see in just a second, the most comparably priced option from a company like Specter (their Pack-It! offering) is 150% more expensive while being considerably less capacious.
Plus, if I might say so, it simply doesn’t look as nice from a personal standpoint, but that’s obviously an entirely subjective point.
Aesthetics
Some folks like their luggage in basic black or muted colors. Me, I like my ruck, tote, or what have you with a little more pizzazz. That’s why even though they do offer it in Graphite, I went for one of the other four choices, namely Sunset Orange, Aqua Blue, Hot Pink, and Marine Blue.
Which one you pick is, of course, up to you. Another thing you’ll like from a visual / quality standpoint is the simple yet profound way in which the zippers and end-ties are made and function.
In short, they aren’t rubbish. Unlike other products in this space, the Pro Packing Cube has high-quality tips and cords for its tassels with cool little logos and smooth-running zippers.
What’s that mean in practical terms? Well, beyond simple good looks, it means your new purchases won’t ruin because of inferior zipper quality. It also makes your stuff easier to identify on a crowded luggage rack.
Neat, huh? Oh, one final visual point before I forget, then we’ll move on. Every busy business traveler knows that keeping their wardrobe in tip-top shape is just as important for them as it is for their more desk-bound colleagues, yet when you travel, it’s no secret that problems can emerge.
The problem-in-chief? Wrinkles and creases. Presentation is everything in the world of business and sales (and hey, it pays to look your best even in ordinary situations!), but after a fourteen hour red-eye, who wants to check into a hotel only to spend two hours ironing – if you can find an iron at all, that is?
The solution?
Use a Pro Packing Cube! These little miracles keep your shirts, slacks, and other clothes looking as nice coming out of storage as they did when you put them in
A Cut Above the Rest
You’ve heard it a million times, one or two of them from me: You get what you pay for. This is no exception. So what does your money buy you when you plunk down your credit card and buy a Pro Packing Cube or two? Well, quite a lot, actually.
1). Alone, in multiples, it doesn’t seem to matter – these things are light as air! That’s super important when you consider that you’ll probably be carrying them inside a duffel bag, backpack, suitcase, or other unifying container.
In the event I do need to take one from Point A to Point B all by itself, however, it’s worth noting that each Pro Packing Cube does come with its own individual carrying handle.
By the way, in spite of their feature-rich design and low price point, for some reason, almost everyone I try to introduce these things to wants to assume that ‘not very heavy’ means ‘shoddily made’.
I guess I could understand that if you were buying a pair of work boots, but let me ask you a question: Is a jumbo jet a piece of junk just because it’s made from lightweight aircraft-grade aluminium?
Of course it isn’t! Well, neither are these babies. Beat ’em up. Stuff ’em to the brim. Use them, and use them well. That’s what they were made for – it just so happens that you don’t feel like you’re lugging a rhinoceros around like you might with some other forms of luggage or luggage organization tools.
By the way, a little bird told me that the fabric the developers of these things used to build them cost a ton to produce when compared to traditional and more, uh, let’s say ‘cost-conscious’ luggage construction materials like nylon or polyester, which is probably why it’s so soft, lightweight, and strong all at once.
I don’t know about all that (I wasn’t there!), but I’m not surprised in the least to hear it.
2). If you happen to snag one of the Aqua Blue, Hot Pink, or Sunset Orange variants of the product, you’ll be pleased to see that, well, you can see everything you put inside it!
Through some sort of engineering sorcery, the fine folks behind these cubes have managed to maintain the same durability and lightness that has carried people like me over millions of miles while making the mesh body almost transparent.
The same can’t be said of their Graphite or Marine Blue offerings, as their color schemes are just too dark, but if you’re patient, you’ll be compensated soon; two new colors are about to be released: Silver and Fire Red, both with the same translucent qualities as the ones mentioned above.
Other packing utilities simply can’t offer this bird’s eye view of your belongings.
3). Are you mildly OCD? Don’t worry, I think we all are these days. ‘A place for everything and everything in its place’, that’s the old saying, right? Well, with that maxim rattling around in our brains, it’s no wonder packing has always been such a wretched affair!
Traditional luggage is a nightmare to pack – it’s just one cavernous space in which everything becomes one great nightmarish jumble.
Not to worry, though. After experiencing the Pro Packing Cube, you’ll never fear the prep work of travel again. Listen, it works like this:
These cubes come in four sizes ranging from small (you’ll put your cables and adapters and things in here) to extra-large (bulky stuff like sweaters and jeans and towels go here).
Medium and large packing cubes are great for shirts, blouses, passports, electronics and toiletries of all types, and just about any other thing you can think of.
What’s more, everything will be kept neatly organized no matter how long or turbulent your trip might be, and if you need to separate your clean and dry clothes (or wet from dry, as the case may be), that’s a snap, too.
It’s all a cinch with the Pro Packing Cube’s quick-access design. Not only do these little cubes make organizing and finding all your worldly goods a downright pleasure, they also make unpacking a sprint rather than a slog.
I don’t know about you, but after a long trip, the last thing I want to do is fight with my luggage (or luggage organization devices) when it comes time to unpack.
I just want my slippers and my toothbrush, and the Pro Packing Cube makes sure I get them, no muss, no fuss.
4). Last but not least, let’s talk durability. Whether you’re the Don Draper type or a hippie halfway through a circuit of the Banana Pancake Trail, the Pro Packing Cube’s got you – and your stuff! – covered in spades.
Designed to take a beating and come back ready for action when you need them most, these things are well-nigh indestructible as long as you show them even a modicum of care.
So go on, shove them in your plane’s overhead compartment. Use them as a pillow on that overnight train to Chennai. Organize your kids’ soccer team gear and watch, worry-free, as they batter them in their haste to unpack and get playing.
However, whenever, and wherever you use them, Pro Packing Cubes will look and work as great as the day you bought them for years to come.
