Summer isn’t summer without shorts. Sure, perhaps you wear them year-round, but for others the annual switch from pants to shorts in wardrobes are cause for celebration. Plus, shorts are travel essentials in many destinations.
You may recall that a few months ago, I reviewed the Prana Halle Jogger II pants and placed them in my regular travel rotation. Now that it’s summer, get ready for the Prana Halle Short II, because it’s just as good.
Prana revised its popular Olivia Short with updates to make the Halle Short II more functional, durable, and comfortable. Updates include: a low-profile plastic closure that lays flat for added comfort, a webbing-reinforced closure button, increased pocket depth (especially as phones are getting larger), increased rise height and room in the upper thigh, and more Earth-friendly fabric.
ReZion, a recycled nylon blend stretch performance fabric (95 percent recycled nylon and 5 percent elastane), is a new version of Prana’s bestselling performance fabric. It’s more lightweight, promoting breathability and performance, as well as durable enough to take you through many adventures. The fabric is abrasion resistant, so there’s less change of pilling or snagging. It’s also rated UPF 50+.
Back patch pockets with snap closures, front hip pockets, and a wearer’s left coin pocket give you seven places to stash your stuff. The fabric’s stretchiness helps especially here when you shove a big phone in your pocket, allowing a little give in the short instead of making them too tight all of a sudden.
There’s a choice of a 5-inch or 7-inch inseam, to fit your preferred length. Vents are placed at each side hem.
The Halle Short II comes in black, shoreline (light blue), earthbound (mustard), and sage camo, and lists for $69 on the Prana site.
