Bringing a bottle of wine on your journeys can be challenging. If you’re flying, you have to pack it in your checked luggage. Glass bottles are also pretty heavy, so if you’re carrying one in a tote or backpack, it adds some weight. River Road Family Vineyards and Winery in California’s Russian River Valley was inspired to enable consumers to enjoy premium wine in packaging that works for the planet, and also be able to take wine to places where glass can’t and shouldn’t go.

As a result, Blue Bin wine is poured into planet-friendly 750 ml bottles made from 100 percent recycled materials that can be recycled over and over again. Despite the bottle holding the same amount of wine glass bottles hold, it’s smaller, lighter, and shatterproof, making it easier to travel with. It also enables more cases to be shipped per truckload than glass wine bottles, which reduces carbon emissions.

While you’d still have to check a bag to bring this wine along when you’re traveling by air, consider how much lighter your bag will be. Maybe light enough for you to bring two bottles instead? And the weight of your tote or backpack will be much less when you’ve packed one of these recycled bottles for your vacation. It’s ideal for trips to the beach, camping excursions, as well as lounging poolside—all places it’s best to avoid bringing glass, both for safety and lack of recycling resource reasons.

Choose from 2022 vintages of Chardonnay with tropical fruit and crisp apple flavors, Pinot Grigio with floral notes and lemon flavors, Sauvignon Blanc with citrus aromas and flavors of apple, and Vin Rosé with strawberry aromas and juicy watermelon flavors. All list for $15 on the Blue Bin site.
