Friends. I can’t even.
I’ve found a girl’s best friend and it is definitely NOT diamonds. One Eleven has developed the SW1 Solar 3-Hand timepiece that is gorgeous.
One Eleven is a company who has the minimal traveler in mind with every design of their watches. Whether you are traveling in town or climbing a mountain, the solar powered SW1 Solar 3-Hand watch will perform.
Initial Impression
This SW1 Solar is beautiful. The actual watch face has a decent weight to it so you know it is on, but doesn’t weigh you down. The dial is not much bigger than a silver dollar and lays perfectly across my wrist. My One Eleven SW1 Solar came with two strap options so I can wear the SW1 Solar in harsher conditions and when I need to be in my work clothes.
I have not invested in an electronic watch that connects to my devices or tracks my carb intake for the simple reason that I do not need nor want to be that connected. I just want a timepiece that tells me the time and date. The SW1 Solar does just that. I can spend quality with my family without distractions or irritation to my skin from the IR lights.
Powered by Your Environment
The SW1 Solar 3-Hand watch does not require you wind a dial or place on a charger at night. Powered in direct and ambient lighting, the SW1 Solar time piece is working and charging all day and well into the night. To test this claim, I have left mine in low light from a window for three days and the watch has kept time and charge. 3 days was enough for me, I had to get it back on my wrist.
I am so thankful there are no additional chargers needed to carry, buy and lose.
Dress it up or Take It Out
As I mentioned above, the One Eleven SW1 Solar can easily be worn during high-end negotiation meetings and make those overpriced timepieces look like they came from a discount retailer or bring it along with a nylon strap for your latest outdoor adventure. The dial is incased in a stainless-steel frame and is water resistant up to 10 ATM. The lens is constructed of a hardened mineral crystal so it can take a beating and keep on ticking.
Timeless Style
The aesthetics of the SW1 Solar is timeless. You will be able to invest in this watch and wear it for years to come. Can you say that about socks and sandals? I think not. The leather and nylon strap are both 18mm in width and are easily attached to the slim profile dial via a deployment clasp. In the winter weather, I find the leather strap to be comfortable and not too warm on my wrist. It took about 2 days for the leather to form to my wrist and the strap to become one with me. I have leather shoes that I am still waiting to become “one with” so two days is nothing.
Can we please talk about the black dial on some of the watches? They just pop and really look sharp.
The SW1 Solar is almost completely silent. I cannot hear the frequency of the hands at all while I am working, driving or hiking. I really appreciate One Eleven for constructing an almost silent watch because there is nothing more annoying than the sound of clock hands while you are waiting in a meeting or trekking up a mountain.
What I Would Change
I am a bit jealous of the light blue and the grey leather strap on the all stainless steel One Eleven SW1 and I wish I could order additional straps from the website. As the business evolves (it was only started in 2016!) and you and I invest in them, I am sure this will become available. Hint, hint.
