If you grew up with huge, clunky rubber snow boots, like I did, you’ll think you’re already familiar with the Muck Arctic Lace Apres Mid boot.

After all, it looks like that boot of yesteryear, in a mid-length. But while The Original Muck Boot Company has retained the durability and waterproofing of your classic rubber and leather snow boot, they’ve streamlined it.

The Arctic Lace is lightweight, slim, agile, and comfortable…all things the boots of my childhood were not.

Here are the details: the Arctic has a women’s-specific fit, which means you won’t be swimming in them.

You get a premium waterproof leather upper, a rugged outsole with lots of traction, a full fleece lining, faux fur trim on the top for looks, and an EVA mid-sole.

Right away, my Muck Arctic Lace Aprés boots went on a journey to Iceland in early winter.

They were lightweight enough to be worn onto the plane (hey, it saves all kinds of room in the carry-on!), and once on land, they had enough warmth and traction to make their way around Iceland’s snowy landscape.

I love the mid-length, because I can either tuck leggings or slim pants into the boot, or easily pull the hem of my jeans down over the top.

Back at home, the Arctic Lace Aprés  is also a great apres-ski boot, since it fits easily into my ski boot bag for storage and easily slips on and off (no complicated lace-up situation here…just a standard amount of laces and hooks).

They’re wildly comfortable, and I love the no-nonsense, just-what-you-need-and-no-more aspect of this boot.

The Arctic Lace Aprés  comes in black/charcoal and otter/navy (for an elegant offering and a classic one). They’re $199, but an investment you’ll only need to make once.

I have been wearing Muck boots for years, and have never seen any wear and tear in my boots yet…and I certainly put them through their paces. Look on Amazon for a deal, too!
