If you have a man in your life who’s a no-frills, clothing-must-be-functional-and-comfortable type, or you are that type yourself, this is the review for you! I’m the same way: I have no use for clothing that brings nothing to the table. Who has room in their bag for that? The following three adventure clothing brands deliver on both style and function. Save room in your travel duffel for the following:
Ecoths Galen SS:
Two things I always love about Ecōths clothing: most of it is organic cotton (so soft to wear and easy to fold to pack!), and most shirts now come with a microfiber cleaning cloth hidden on the inside hem. The Galen SS shirt checks both these boxes, and comes in three understated but fun tonal dot patterns. The shirt is a short-sleeved button-down, with a dobby-woven feel. You can get it in white, ‘silver lining’ (a light gray) or indigo, and all three have the dot pattern to give the shirt a little bit of pop without going over the top. You can still match this with almost anything, and it is lightweight enough for touring a city or the outdoors on a summer day, then heading indoors for dinner. The microfiber cloth is excellent for cleaning your phone screen or your sunglasses. Pick it up for $72 on the Ecōths site or Amazon, and remember: this company donates meals to the hungry for every garment sold.
Dakota Grizzly Eaton hoodie:
This lightweight yet substantial hoodie needs to be a stable in your travel bag. It’s a basic pullover style with handwarmer pockets and railroad track neck taping, and comes in granite, pine, or marine. Any of these options will compliment anything else in your bag, and the hoodie rolls up or packs down small enough to toss into your day pack or airplane carry-on. My teenage son owns one, and no matter how many times he stuffs it into his backpack, it comes out looking nice. It’s only $69 and has a nice full hood with drawstring cords, making it a staple you’ll use all the time. Pick it up at Dakota Grizzly.
United by Blue Banff Yoke shirt:
I’ve fallen in love with United by Blue, because all their clothing (for both men and women) shine in their elegant simplicity. The shirts I’ve tried have all been well made and built to last, and look good doing it. The Banff Yoke shirt for men gives you a rustic urban cowboy look with a recycled poly and wool blend that’s soft, insulating, and water resistant. It is thick enough to double as a second layer; my husband wears his over a tee as a light layer in the spring and fall. You get double button cuffs and a collar, and the fit is classic…not too fitted but not square, either. This long-sleeved shirt is just a nice stable to have at the ready, with just enough flair to make it a fun piece to wear. Pick it up in gray or brown with plaid accents for $94 on United by Blue’s site or other online retailers.
