It seems that we at Practical Travel Gear have a small MiiR obsession. Back in August, I talked about the brand’s Complete Cocktail Kit. Then, in September, Leah talked about MiiR’s product takeback program.

Now, I want to tell you about the MiiR New Standard Moka Pot. While the Moka Pot has allowed people to make espresso nearly anywhere without fancy equipment (just the pot and grounds necessary), this reimagined version introduces new materials. Made from durable, non-corrosive stainless steel and post-consumer recycled components, the New Standard Moka Pot has a more responsible footprint.

Swapping aluminum for stainless steel helps prevent corrosion and ensures durability. MiiR is a certified B Corporation, 1% For the Planet member, a Climate Neutral Certified brand, and a Certified Evergreen Company. Every MiiR product sold helps fund nonprofit organizations that work to empower communities while investing in the health of our natural environments. All MiiR products contain a unique Give Code, allowing customers the power to connect with the company’s transparent giving initiatives.

The New Standard Moka Pot makes approximately 10 ounces of espresso-strength brew in about five minutes, enough for six 50ml servings. It has a classic perforated hopper for grounds, and is safe for induction, gas, and electric stovetop use. It’s also easy to clean: unscrew the upper body from the base, remove the funnel, dispose of used grounds, remove the silicone gasket and perforated disc, and gently wash all components with warm soapy water. While the upper body and base are dishwasher safe, hand washing will ensure your Moka Pot’s longevity.

The New Standard Moka Pot comes in black and brushed stainless, and lists for $59.95 on the MiiR site.
