Straight out of Slovakia comes my new favorite winter boots, the LOWA Barina II GTX. It is the newest to the LOWA women’s cold weather line and don’t be too jealous because you can grab yourself a pair, too.

Perfection.

At first glance, these shoes are adorable! Well styled with the grey leather paired with tweed-like upper and faux-shearling trim to complete the Instagram worthy look. The Barina II is a mid-calf boot allowing you to pair it with your favorite fleece lined leggings or skinny jeans depending on the occasion.

Made Just For Women

Check out those treads!

The Barina II GTX is made on a women’s specific last to ensure a proper fit while you are out in the elements. A double injected sole is formed with deep treads to keep you grounded in the ice and snow this season. I really appreciate the design of the tread around the ball of the foot. I find that is where I tend to place most of my weight in a shoe and the TPU tread design mimics the natural grip of your foot. The toe box of the Barina II GTX is wide enough to allow you toes to splay out naturally and ergonomically.

The inner sole of the Barina II GTX is comfortable and supportive. I have high arches and after wearing these around for a whole day, I had no foot pain! LOWAs have always fit my foot well and I am so thankful for that!

Function and Fashion

Finding winter boots that are both fashion forward AND truly functional is not an easy task. LOWA has hit it out of the park with the Barina II GTX and it checks both the boxes. The tongue of the Barina II GTX is integrated to the outside and the entire exterior is Gortex. What does this mean for you and I? Waterproof! You could be in 6” of wet, dirty snow and your feet (and most importantly, socks!) will be dry as the moment you slid them into the Barina II GTX.

I find the LOWA Barina II GTX fits true to size and is best for a regular to more narrow foot. The lacing system also allows you to wear your thickest or thinnest socks without discomfort. I would suggest wearing some Wigwam socks for your hiking, playing and winter activities.

Warranty and Boot Care

Integrated tongue of the shoe ensures you stay dry.

LOWA has a great warranty and on their website you can find a comprehensive guide to caring for your boots and making them last season after season. Just note that if you are interested in returning your shoes for any reason, you must obtain a Return Authorization from the company.

I am testing out and loving the Barina II GTX in Grey/Honey. If the teed look isn’t right for you, check out the Black. The Barina II GTX in black is simpler in design. LOWA Barina II GTX can be found on their website and retail for $250.00. Need them sooner? There’s a handy Find it. Locally search tool on the shoe’s webpage.
