Ever since I was a kid, water beckons to me. I can spend hours swimming, diving, playing, and floating in the water, and it can be a hard task to convince me to climb back on land. Because I’m usually always active in the water, I prefer swimsuits that will hold up to my adventures without any discomfort or costume malfunction.
My most recent swimsuit addition to my suitcase this season has been the Carve Designs Beacon One-Piece. Made from recycled polyester swim fabric (incorporating the equivalent of five plastic bottles), the suit is 82 percent polyester and 18 percent spandex, and has a UPF 50+ rating. The classically styled suit featured full coverage, with a low back and medium leg cut. It’s got a built-in shelf bra and removable chest pads (which I never use). The high support provided by the suit’s double straps means that I don’t have to think twice about wearing this suit surfing, kayaking, swimming, or even playing beach volleyball.
One of the features about Beacon One-Piece swimsuit’s sizing is that it’s also available with long torso sizing, making it a good choice for varied body types.
When you’re done with the swimsuit for the day, machine wash in cold with like colors, and tumble dry on low—or air-dry it, which is what I do. Don’t store it (or any swimsuits) wet for too long.
The Beacon One-Piece comes in basic black, which is always my first choice. But it also comes in seasonal prints: Brigitte (a large flower print with a Navy background), Wildflower (a smaller flower print with a green background), and Newport (pink-and-white pinstripe). Regardless of the color you choose, the suit lists for $84 on the Carve Designs site. You can always get two.
