LifeSaver Jerrycan: Emergency Preparedness

The LifeSaver Jerrycan is one water filtration and water collection device in the amazing line up that is Lifesaver. You have already read our review of the LifeSaver Liberty Bottle and we are excited to bring you the Jerrycan.

Available in 10000UF and 20000UF models, the Jerrycan is a very well made vessel that can easily be stored in your car, a vacation home or thrown on the back of an ATV for an overland adventure. The failsafe technology of the LifeSaver filtration system allows you to safely remove viruses, bacteria, cysts and parasites instantly from any water source.

How Does It Work?

Cleaning water without chemicals or electrical power is as easy as 1, 2, 3 for LifeSaver. By engaging the built in hand pump, the air pressure in the Jerrycan is forces water through hollow fiber membrane pores which are housed in a ultra-filtration cartridge. The water then exits through the nozzle, leaving hazardous bacteria, cysts and viruses behind.

The failsafe techonology of the LifeSaver filtration system ensures the filter and pump cease the work when the filter has become full of microbiological material.

Keep the Jerrycan Dirty

LifeSaver and your trusted reviewers here at Practical Travel Gear recommend you fill the Jerrycan with only dirty water and use the pump and filtration technology to get your clean water.

By only filling your Jerrycan with dirty water, you also dramatically reduce the risk of contaminating clean water. Dirty water can be retrieved in lakes, rivers, ponds, and like the LifeSaver boys proved at a past OR show, the grossest canal you can think of.

We have found that this is not only a fantastic Jerrycan to take camping, the slim profile allows us to bring it on the boat for a long day of water sports without taking up a ridiculous amount of space. With a plethora of fresh water available to replenish the Jerrycan with, our only concern now is how to keep the kids from eating all the food in the first hour of the day.

The Jerrycan 10000UF can filter up to 10,000 liters of water while the 20000UF can filter up to 20,000 liters with an initial flow rate of 4L/min. Both Jerrycans can hold up to 18.5 liters of water in the can. The Jerrycan weighs in at 4.35kg.

Money Saving Packs

LifeSaver has created a variety of Emergency Preparedness Bonus packs that include the Jerrycan. I think the Family Emergency Preparedness pack is a great option for anyone who is looking for a water filtration system. The pack for the LifeSaver Family Emergency Preparedness pack is heat sealed in aluminum foil for an extended shelf life of 10 year.

Family Emergency Preparedness Pack Includes:

  • LifeSaver Jerrycan 20000UF
  • 20 x activated carbon filters (each filter will process 500 litres before a replacement is recommended)
  • LifeSaver shower attachment
  • LifeSaver maintenance pack (protective flush cap, o-rings, pump seal and silicone grease)

LifeSaver Jerrycan comes in three colors for the 20000UF model and retails for $229.99. The 10000UF model is available in their iconic blue color and retails for $189.99 on the LifeSaver website. A variety of products are also available on Amazon.com.

Military Approved!

There are many water filtration systems available but none as proven and endorsed by the United States Military. As of January 2019, the LifeSaver Jerrycan has passed compliance testing for Military Operations. Your Jerrycan has the same filtration system as the one tested for the NSF Protocol P248 Standard for our troops.

Drink safely and stay thirsty my friends!
