Do you really need a gigantic lantern on your travels? Perhaps, when you’re camping, and one big light is necessary at your campsite.

But those big lights aren’t the easiest to carry around, and they don’t work well for trips when you need to pack all you need into a suitcase and fly somewhere.

The Goal Zero Lighthouse Mini Lantern is a smaller version of the Lighthouse 250 Lantern & USB Power Hub.

For the anywhere traveler, the smaller size is more versatile beyond camping, as you can pack the 8-ounce lantern (a tiny bit larger than my fist) in your suitcase, carry-on bag, car’s glove box, or daypack.

The Lighthouse Mini’s lantern has 210 lumens and recharges from both USB and solar (assuming you have the Goal Zero Nomad solar panels).

The USB charging cable is built in, so you don’t have to worry about packing (and possibly losing) one. The LED light is dimmable, so you can adjust brightness and direction for extended run times—up to 500 hours on low.

There’s also an internal, replaceable 18650 Goal Zero battery.

The lantern doesn’t just provide light. It also provides power. There’s a built-in 1A USB port with 3,000mAh battery for up to one full phone charge.

Say you’re on the plane and there are no outlets to charge your phone—but your phone is running out of juice and you have to finish that movie/song/email or even call phone immediately upon landing.

Just plug into the Lighthouse Mini, and you’re good.

A built-in hook up top, fold-down legs and magnet at the base allows you to use it without holding it all the time, too.

One of the best things about the Lighthouse Mini Lantern (aside from its size) is that you can use it to charge a device while charging it at the same time.

The Goal Zero Lighthouse Mini Lantern lists for $59.99 on the Goal Zero site. It’s also available at Amazon.
