I have a variety of water bottles at home. Some are used in the house, some come with me on local adventures, and yet others are in my truck. I also have a few reserved strictly for my travels, especially those that include water filters. And I’m a big fan of LifeStraw bottles for that purpose.

While many of my bottles are stainless steel, that’s not the most lightweight material for traveling, especially if you’re carrying the bottle around in your hand or on your back. In those cases, I like to lighten the load by carrying the LifeStraw Go Series BPA-free 1L bottle.

The BPA-free bottle is made from 50% post-consumer recycled plastic and weighs 268 grams. It holds 1 liter, or 34 fluid ounces. The advanced two-stage membrane microfilter improves taste and protects against bacteria (including E.coli and Salmonella), parasites (including Giardia and Cryptosporidium), microplastics, chlorine, silt, sand, and cloudiness. The membrane microfilter lasts up to 1,000 gallons (4,000 liters), which is about five years of daily use, or the equivalent of 8,000 single-use plastic water bottles. The carbon filter lasts up to 26 gallons (100 liters), about two months. LifeStraw has replacement filters available for purchase.

Aside from the filter, the thing I love the most about the Go Series BPA-free 1L bottle is that there’s a covered mouthpiece to protect from dirt, unwelcome germs, and leakage, as well as a leakproof handle for easy carrying.

The Go Series BPA-free 1L bottle lists for $49.95 on the LifeStraw site, and comes in polar white (pictured), Oxford ivy, Laguna teal, Nordic noir, Aegean Sea, and Icelandic blue. The Go Series also features a 22-ounce BPA-free bottle, 18-ounce stainless steel bottle, 24-ounce stainless steel bottle, and 1L stainless steel bottle.
