Looking for one more thing to add to your Wish List this season? Look no further than Astral’s newest hiking boot, the TR1 Merge 2.0. This amphibious, eco-friendly design will take you places you’ve never been before!

The fall weather in Idaho can best be described as schizophrenic in nature. It can be so cold in the morning that you need to wear your full length parka and then by noon, it is a light jacket and leggings kind of day. The versatility of the TR1 Merge 2.0 is ideal for wet and dry conditions on the trail. Drainage holes and top fabric construction that helps to prevent sand and silt from getting into your shoe make up the amphibious design of Astral boots.

Wet gear is also heavy gear but with the TR1 Merge 2.0 design, the ultrafine ripstop mesh and an Ariaprene® collar, which allow for excellent ventilation and quick drying. This “Turbo Ventilation” system lets air and water pass through while keeping debris out so you can keep trekking and not get weighed down.

The G.15 Rubber™ outsole excels at grippiness in wet conditions like rocks, water crossings and dewy surfaces. The sole is also very flexible to allow for scrambling up rocks or conquering unexepected inclines.

The TR1 Merge 2.0 offers good ankle support due to its well-cut back and flexible sole, but keep in mind that it is designed to be more minimalist. This means it may not provide the high level of support some hikers prefer, especially those with ankle issues. Be sure to take your boots out for test hikes prior to departing on a long hike.

This summer, to my kid’s horror, I have converted over to wearing Birkenstock sandals for the zero drop and wide footbed. I have noticed more foot strength, less pain in my knees and more stability in my everyday movements. Due to the above mentioned features of that footwear, I was excited to learn more about the TR1 Merge 2.0 and it’s foot friendly design.

These TR1 Merge 2.0 boots incorporate a zero-drop design with a Level Footbed® and a wider toe box, respecting the natural position of the foot. This design enhances balance and stability, allowing for a more natural stride and reduced fatigue while you are out exploring. They are really very comfortable and easy to break in.

Overall, the Astral TR1 Merge 2.0 hiking boots are an excellent choice for hikers seeking a balance of comfort, stability, and performance in various trail conditions. Their amphibious design, lightweight construction, and eco-friendly materials make them a standout option for outdoor enthusiasts.

We recommend these to the avid hiker looking for a light weight design, the college kid who has everything but good footwear for a hike and your best girlfriend who is interested in getting out more.

Astral’s TR1 Merge 2.0 is available on the astral website, come in three colors and a wide variety of whole and half sizes. They retail for $150.
