There’s nothing like an outdoor adventure with the sun on your skin (after you’ve applied sunscreen, of course), and the warming weather of spring and summer inspire great travel dreams. In switching my travel wardrobe for upcoming trips where I need fewer long-sleeved shirts and more tanks and tees, I’ve been trying out some new additions.

The Jungmaven women’s Phoenix Muscle Tee is an ideal in-between stage between T-shirt and tank. It’s lightweight with a relaxed fit with a boxy shape and generous armholes. The shirt has a vintage feel and is great to dress up or down as you need, and in the past few days I’ve worn it to hike on California coastal trails and attend a reception at an art gallery.

The fabric is a blend of 55% hemp and 45% organic cotton. If you’ve never had an item of hemp clothing, there are plenty of good reasons to start considering it. The natural fiber thrives almost anywhere, with very little impact to the environment. It’s also a phyto-remediation plant, restoring balance to environments by cleaning the soil, air, and water. Hemp has antibacterial properties, is naturally resistant to mold, breathes well, and gets softer with each wear yet its strong fibers last through loads of washes.

The crew-necked Phoenix muscle tee is garment dyed (except for the washed white color), meaning the finished garment is washed in color rather than the fabric being dyed prior to cutting and sewing. This method results in subtle variations of color and a softer texture.

The Women’s Phoenix Muscle Tee lists for $46 on the Jungmaven site, and comes in a rainbow of color choices: agave green, apricot crush, black, coastal blue, coyote, dark matcha, desert khaki, diesel gray, hunter green, navy, oak milk, olive green (pictured), pistachio, rooibos tea, rose water, sunset coral, teal, washed white, and wisteria.
