The Catherine frames from Costa Del Mar are one of the newest offerings from our beloved Costa. They are a Bio-acetate (made from 67% renewable materials) with a slight cat-eye design.
These frames can come in 5 options with 4 frame options depending on your activities. I have the Tortoise with Copper Polarized Glass and the fit and lens benefits are exactly what I have come to expect from Costa. The wider lens aids in better protection across the face. The lenses provide 100% UV light protection and are also scratch resistant.
The frame is well made. I find them to be a little heavy, leaving red marks on my nose bridge when I have worn them for a short period of time. There is no nose pad, so if you are out sweating they slip easily. On our last vacation, the Catherine Frames slipped off my face while looking down more than any sunglass I have owned from Costa. I was disappointed in this as the lenses are perfect for water.
After wearing them for some time, I would be hesitant to take these on the boat or paddle boarding without a C-Mono Retainer for them.
The Catherine Frames are available for purchase on the Costa del Mar website and at the time of publishing, they are running a few sales throughout the website on frames and accessories. Costa’s website always has the virtual Try On option for those looking to see how the frames would look prior to purchasing. It’s a great tool to use and mobile friendly. The Catherine Frames retail for $270 and are available in Rx and Non-Rx frames. It is a most wanted item so act fast!
