When I travel, I like to bring accessories that will go with pretty much everything else I have in my suitcase. Having versatile pieces that I can dress up and dress down ensures that I’m not traveling with a huge suitcase and can usually bring it all along with me in a carry-on bag.
While I like to keep my baseball cap collection to an essential minimum, I do like to change them around on occasion, and have recently added a new one to my assemblage of chapeaux. The Clare V. Baseball Hat comes in a variety of styles—most of them are cotton canvas with adjustable sliding metal closures (min. circumference 22 inches, max. circumference 24.5 inches) and a 2.5-inch brim. There are also trucker hats for those who prefer that easy-breezy style.
My cap (pictured) is a cotton hat embroidered with the word oui (which means “yes” in French). It’s my reminder to say yes to opportunities that give me a deeper look into a culture and destination. But you don’t have to say oui like me. There are a variety of words and phrases to choose from, like: vive la resistance, ciao, le weekend, bon vivant, déjà vu, and discothèque.
By all means, sport your favorite sports team on your noggin, if that’s what you prefer. I just like having different options, and sometimes my black-and-orange cap from my fave baseball team isn’t the best for the blazing sun.
Like all ball caps, these pack easily into your suitcase or carry-on, and spot cleaning usually takes care of any dirt spots.
Styles for the Clare V. Baseball Hat range from khaki with royal embroidered oui to navy denim with cream embroidered iconique. Prices range from $50 to $70, depending on your favorite style.
