I used to love getting travel-sized toothpaste tubes from my dentist. I’d squirrel them away until I needed them for a trip, and then pack them along, knowing that throwing away the empty container during my travels meant that I could return home with a moderately lighter bag).
After I started traveling a lot, throwing unnecessary things away felt wasteful. And as we all know, toothpaste tubes are challenging to refill, so the need for travel-sized tubes is always top-of-mind. A while back, when I changed my toothpaste for a brand that doesn’t (as far as I know) sell small tubes, I started looking around for refillable containers. And that’s how I found Matador Refillable Toothpaste Tubes.
Designed to replace single-use travel-sized tubes, these refillable tubes have a multi-layer construction with a vapor barrier that prevents the contents from drying out. They’re food safe, BPA-free, and PVC-free. They’re also dishwasher safe, and you can place them in your dishwasher’s top rack when you need to clean them.
Each pack includes 1-week and 2-week tubes with standard screw-cap openings to help you bring enough to last without overpacking. To refill them, remove the sliding clip on the back end, and squeeze your favorite toothpaste in. Replace the cap, and you’re all set.
Aside from eliminating waste, I love using these tubes because I never have to go shopping at the last minute when I realize that I don’t have a travel-sized toothpaste tube available to pack for an upcoming trip. when I’m done with a trip, I refill them and put them back in my toiletry kit so they’re ready to go for the next trip.
Refillable Toothpaste Tubes are available as a 2-tube set—1-week (22ml) and 2-week (35ml) volumes—and list for $10 on the Matador site.
