It’s not quite the “one ring to rule them all” approach, but packing only one jacket is the smart traveler’s way to rule the carry-on vs. checked-bag conflict. In winter, that means excellent performance across a range of weather conditions and output levels—whether you’re out skiing the backcountry or exploring a new-to-you city.

The lightweight Arc’teryx Women’s Atom Hoody is made with soft, water-resistant Tyono 20 face fabric, which is durable for tougher activities and breathable for extended wear. For those activities where you need freedom of movement, stretch side panels both improve ventilation and avoid restriction.

Coreloft Compact synthetic insulation (extending to the jacket’s StormHood) dries quickly, and retains warmth even when damp. For travelers, this insulation retains loft even after the jacket’s been packed and repacked over and over again.

The Atom Hoody is dope dyed, which has a lower environmental impact compared to traditional dyeing methods. In the traditional dyeing process, garments are first created and then dyed by dipping them in different solutions of water and chemicals. With dope dyeing, Arc’teryx adds pigment at the polymer level, saving water, reducing carbon dioxide emissions, and increasing colorfastness.

Arc’teryx revised the popular Atom LT Hoody to have a trimmer fit, staying close to the body through the chest, waist, hip, and thigh. The low profile eliminates bulk, moves with the body through your adventures, and fits comfortably over lightweight base layers. If you’re used to the previous version, check the Arc’teryx sizing chart to determine your correct size for the revised model.

The Women’s Atom Hoody comes in orca (white), sunstone (yellow), velvet sand (rose pink), techno (bright pink), moonlit (blue), labyrinth (deep green), forage (gray), black sapphire (dark blue), and black. It lists for $260 on the Arc’teryx site.
