Spring gets me excited for the adventures to come, and when there’s adventure, there’s a wardrobe to go with it. I have a few new favorites for a near-future of hiking, biking, camping, and exploring, and three of the pieces come from the same brand: Royal Robbins.

The Women’s Expedition III L/S is a lightweight shirt that uses a tightly woven fabric to keep pesky mosquitos at bay. The bluesign-approved 100% recycled poly tight-weave fabric contains no chemical repellents or biocides, making the shirt safe for you and for the environment. Unlike chemical repellents used in clothing, this method also ensures that the mosquito protection in this shirt won’t wash or wear away over time.

Despite the fabric having a tight weave, the shirt moves and breathes well. It has an adjustable cuff, a fold-up collar with a button closure, and a drop-in chest pocket. It lists for $95 on the Royal Robbins site and comes in white, sandstone, sage leaf, deep blue, and ivory caswell print.

The Women’s Wilder Pant features Royal Robbins’ same Mosquito Protection Technology—a lightweight, yet tight-weave engineered fabric. In this case, the material is a stretch recycled 94% nylon and 6% elastane, equipped with CO DWR for water resistance and a 7.5 CFM wind rating, making it very wind resistant. There’s an adjustable bungee at each cuff, and multiple pockets (two drop-in side seam pockets and two reverse-entry back pockets with hook-and-loop closure) to keep your belongings safe. The pants list for $120 on the Royal Robbins site and come in Everglade and deep blue.

Veering away from mosquito protection, I have to mention the Men’s Camino Pucker S/S shirt. It’s a great short-sleeved, button-down shirt made with wood-derived Tencel Modal fibers (75% modal, 25% recycled polyester), and it’s carbon neutral by mitigating emissions through Royal Robbins’ avoid, reduce, compensate approach. It’s a great casual-yet-dressy shirt that you can take from the trail to basecamp to dinner, and comes in a variety of colors and prints: deep blue Caledonia print, lion Caledonia print, sage leaf fish print, Everglade fish print, sea yarrow print, and redwood yarrow print. It lists for $90 on the Royal Robbins site.
