As I write this, I’m on a multi-day hiking trip in the Canadian Rockies. On trips like this, I want comfortable performance clothing that has great freedom of movement and ventilates well. But I also really love items that look good for multiple scenarios, rather than trail clothes that I can’t wear in town or for just hanging around a café.

I’ve got a good amount of Fjallraven clothing for that exact reason—for their performance-yet-classic approach. There are a variety of different collections, depending on your adventure needs, and clothing in the Abisko family is designed for lightweight trekking, and the garments are characterized by low weight, fast-drying fabrics, and good ventilation—perfect when you want to move around easily, either in the summer mountains or in warmer climates.

The Abisko Hybrid Trail Shorts use the brand’s G-1000 Lite Stretch fabric on the front and full-stretch recycled polyamide/elastane fabric on the back. You can wax the G-1000 fabric (use Fjallraven’s Greenland wax) for enhanced weather resistance, while the back ventilates well and provides freedom of movement.

The shorts have a regular fit with a 7.5-inch inseam and elastic waist, and have open hand pockets and two buttoned leg pockets (one with an extra zippered pocket). They list for $125 on the Fjallraven site and come in laurel green (pictured), navy, and black.

The Abisko Hybrid Trail Trousers have the same fabric styling, with G-1000 Lite Stretch fabric on the front and full-stretch recycled polyamide/elastane fabric on the back. Also like the shorts, the elastic waist ensures an excellent (and comfortable) fit.

The trousers have a regular fit, zippered ventilation openings with mesh backers at the sides, as well as open hand pockets and two buttoned leg pockets (one with an extra zippered pocket). The trousers list for $195 on the Fjallraven site and come in laurel green, navy, and black.
