Say Hello to Our Newest Writer
Happy Veteran’s Day everyone. We’re taking a break from the reviews today to announce a changing of the guard.
Pam Mandel, who has been writing for us most of this year, has to scale back her commitments due to a crammed schedule so she’s stepping down. Sniff sniff. You can still find her ranting and sharing at Nerd’s Eye View and she’ll be one of the four overseeing Passports with Purpose soon: please participate in that and help us do some good in the world.
Walking through the revolving door is Jill Robinson, a west coast travel writer who has reviewed gear (and written lots of articles) at the San Francisco Chronicle. She’s also written for World Hum, Lonely Planet, Frommer’s, AOL Travel, and more. She divides her time between writing about travel, running a kayak business and trying to wring awe-inspiring adventure out of every day. She also owns a home in the Bay Islands of Honduras—very cool!
I hung out with Jill in Huntington Beach while attending a travel writers conference and I know she’ll be a great addition to Practical Travel Gear. She’ll be coming to you each Friday starting a week from now.
As always, you can read about each of us on the About Us page.

We’re Out Having Fun

The Practical Travel Gear blog will resume its gear reviews in a few days.
But right now, instead of writing about traveling and having fun outside, we’re traveling and having fun outside.
I’m spending my holiday time in Virginia, which got a big dumping of snow. The picture here is what I’ve been doing with my sister and daughter while other people fumed about their crackberry being out of service.
See you soon. Meanwhile, see the tags on the right or the tabs up top to check out the archives.
