Score a Cute Little Lantern from Coghlan’s

By Tim L.

Usually when we give away a prize on here it’s one big item and it’s an all-or-nothing affair. Well this time three readers will score a cool little LED Micro Lantern from Coghlan’s.

I first reviewed this item in 2008 (see the full review here) and I’ve been using it on camping trips ever since. I still haven’t replaced the two CR2032 coin batteries that came with it.

Despite the small size, I’ve found this bright enough to light up a tent or serve as the light source for a board game. In cheap hotels with dim lighting, this would be handy to have along. It sure doesn’t take up much space!

You can buy one of these at Amazon or your local outdoor gear store but how about a free one instead?

We can only ship to Canada or the U.S., but if you live in one of those places, you have two ways to enter.

1) Go become a fan on Facebook. Yes, it’s lonely in there because the page just went up this week. Be a pioneer. We’ll pick two random winners from the fans on June 25, 2010.

OR

2) Leave a comment below answering the following question: “Why is a weekend of camping better than a weekend of hanging out on Facebook?” We’ll pick one winner on June 25.

Your choice—conformist or rebel—but either way you can win.

WEEKEND of camping gets you away from it all- I love the phone shut off, and out where noone can reach you- its fun because it reconnects two if only two go- it takes you back to a time without all the crap and staying out till past dark and not caring- when a luxury tv meant a control with a cord(or really good kids)

A weekend camping means I have to pee outside, but it’s better than hitting refresh every 30 seconds! Plus there’s no infernal beeping of electronic gadgets while camping (at least if you go with me, there isn’t!)

If you have to ask the question you should not be in the conversation.

A weekend of camping is better than a weekend of facebook, because you are being active and out in the fresh air.

A weekend of camping means new possibilities – seeing a bear or other creatures that aren’t computer-screen fantasies.

Wow, I’m not sure if there is anything good about a weekend of facebook (especially when you compare it to CAMPING)! I’ll just be simple: facebook is about as fake as you can get, camping outdoors is about as real as you can get.

Because the real world is far more unpredictable (and therefore exciting)

Because sleeping under the stars bring better dreams than sleeping in front of a computer monitor.

A weekend of camping gets you closer to nature than hanging out on Facebook.

how else can i get eaten alive by mosquitos?

because only 0.00001% of the people on facebook are the type who actually enjoy camping. Also, all of your friends don’t really care if you had a great time at the club last night and you thought joe schmo was cute….

Why is a weekend of camping better than a weekend of hanging out on Facebook?

Because I’ll be with people I actually care about and WANT to talk to. ;)

Thanks for the chance to win!

on the weekend the last thing i want is to be on a computer, it’s the time to get away from the thing

Please… Facebook is a bore, sorry, and too intrusive on your privacy. Camping? OK, campfires, cooking steaks, s’mores, fresh air. Much better.

  21. #21 by Schmidty - June 22nd, 2010 at 15:15

Fresh air! And all that time with myself.

Camping allows me to breathe in fresh air while working out during the day — all day; it’s the best!
