NapSac Travel Blanket and Pillow in One

By Kara

I gave a positive review to the TravelRest pillow, designed ergonomically like a candy cane to give support to your head, neck and upper body when resting in a plane or car. Here’s another travel pillow option — one that is standard-shaped like a rectangular pillow, but that also comes with a totally comfy blanket, too. Here’s how the NapSac works:

napsacThe deflated, plastic pillow is folded and stored in a buttoned pocket that’s attached to a blanket made of wonderfully luxurious, soft and cozy “coral fleece” (seriously, best fabric ever). The blanket is also folded and zipped up in a sack made of the same fabric. The zipped bag about 8 by 11 by 3 inches and totally squishable. I packed it with way too many other things in my carry-on tote on my most recent trip to Mexico.

On the plane, I unzipped the sack and inflated the pillow (kind of feeling dorky, I tried to do this before my seatmates arrived), then zipped the sack around it to act as a pillow case. The blanket is 35 inches by 48 inches — plenty big enough to cover my shoulders and lap (though not down to my feet). You can use the pocket to keep your mp3 player safe. (Mine’s been known to slide off my lap into the nether regions of an airplane seat when I fall asleep.)

The NapSac comes in handy for the car, too. My kids fought over who was going to use it after a late-night drive home from a holiday party the other night. My guess it will be the coveted item during our upcoming lengthy road trip to the West Coast.

Selling for $28 on the Lug website, the NapSac is offered in 8 different hues (I love my rich navy blue). The price is discounted slightly at Amazon.com.

My wife has used one of these on a few trips and really liked it. A useful thing to carry on a plane since many airlines have gotten very stingy with pillows and blankets. (Plus you know it’s clean…)
