Isis Dash Dress and Skort

By Amy

isis dashI’ve found my new favorite summer travel dress. The Isis Dash Dress meets the trifecta of summer wear criteria: it’s lightweight, comfortable, and oh-so cute. Made of Isis’ specialty ‘Momentum’ fabric (86% polyester, 14% spandex), the dress is very thin while still feeling substantial enough to run and play in. Truly, the amount of movement you have, it feels like you have hardly anything on at all. And during hot summer days, that’s ideal. Even though its thin, sweat does not stain through the Dash Dress…it wicks away instantly, keeping the fabric totally dry. The Momentum fabric is also weaved for UPF 30+ sun protection.

The Dash Dress is cut very stylishly, to look flattering even while you’re on the go. (Seriously, you could hike or run in this dress. I’m considering kayaking in it.) It has a tucked section at the back to give it some shape at the waist, and features a nice V-neckline. I love that the pocket on the side is both stylish and functional: it includes both a nice deep pocket and a zipped security pocket. There’s another pocket at the chest. It comes in four bright colors: jet (charcoal), lollipop (pink), sprout (spring green), and ocean (teal blue). What makes the Dash Dress perfect for travel is its versatility: you could easily wear it for active excursions during the day and then dress it up at night. Also: it doesn’t wrinkle (huge hooray!). I tried a medium, which is listed as a size 8 on Isis’ size chart, but I did find it to run a bit big. If you’re a size 6-8, for instance, go with a small.

Pick up the Dash Dress on the Isis site for 79.00 or grab it on Amazon or Altrec for roughly the same price.

isis dash skortAlso in the ‘Dash’ family, the Isis Dash Skort. Made of the same Momentum fabric (and available in the same colors as the Dash Dress), the skort is an active skirt perfect to run in, hike in, or just spend the day in. It looks more casual (think upper-end workout wear) than the Dash Dress–in other words, you may not get away with wearing it to dinner–but it can certainly do double duty as workout wear and day wear.

The skort is very comfortable: the waist is completely elastic (with a wide band) and the skirt, which features a split, moves with your body freely. It comes with built-in boy shorts with a 4.5 inch inseam (think spandex-style bike shorts), so there’s no worries about flashing anyone. There’s a zippered security pocket at the back waist, and the skirt falls to about the knee (waist to hem ins 15 inches), which I appreciate. Like the Dash Dress, I found it to run big. The medium fit me in length, but was a bit big in the waist (which cannot be adjusted). Order accordingly!

It’s available for $59 on the Isis site, or, like the dress, can be found on Amazon or Altrec.
