We’ve reviewed a fair number of travel jackets on this gear blog and most of them have been worthy of praise and recommendation. They do what they’re supposed to do—often using impressive fabric innovations and waterproofing membranes that breathe well—but they usually don’t do much else.
This ExOfficio Storm Logic jacket is a different animal. Seemingly built after watching travelers struggling to pack light, navigate airport security, and still stay comfortable in varied climates, this is a double-duty gear item with a wow factor.
First, the pockets. You know those geeky ScotteVest jackets that enable people to do stunts like traveling around the world with no luggage? Consider this a less geeky version of that, but built for performance. It doesn’t have 38 pockets, just fitted ones that you really need: one each for passport, plane ticket, phone/gadget, sunglasses, and your hands. There’s even a little hook inside for your keys. Toss this in the security bin with your watch and belt and you’re golden.
There’s one more surprise though, the thing that takes the Storm Logic jacket to the next level. Naturally, this being a travel jacket, it folds down into its own pouch. It’s not a small scrunchy pouch though. Instead this folds into itself in a longer pouch and becomes a neck pillow!
All three of us have tried and reviewed neck pillows and they’re either too bulky or they’re inflatable and aren’t all that comfy on a plane. This one is as soft as, well, a poofy down jacket, plus it fits around your neck so you can doze sitting up in a cramped economy plane seat. Ding ding you’ve landed, then just unfold it and wear it again. Neck pillow all gone.

Oh, but does this jacket it keep you warm? Yes indeed. This is a warm and toasty coat that would be worth wearing even if it didn’t act like the Swiss Army knife of outerwear. It’s got warm Primaloft One insulation inside, while the outside is DWR-treated water resistant and wind resistant ripstop nylon. It’s unbelievably light for how warm it is and if it ever does get wet, it’ll dry in no time.
The ExOfficio Storm Logic jacket comes in four colors for men and women and retails for $150. Like every ExOfficio product I’ve ever tried—and that’s a lot—it feels well-made and durable. I expect it to last through years of heavy use.
Perhaps more important, I love this jacket. The first time I put this on it got me excited and when I’ve showed it to other people their reaction has ranged from “awesome” to “where do I get one?” It’s a hit. Trust me.

I bought this jacket after reading your review and I love it! It’s a great jacket without the roll up pillow aspect, but I’ve used that on a couple flights and have been glad I had it.
