These cool Costa sunglasses are a particular favorite of mine and it begins with the free sturdy carrying case that accompanies each pair. Unlike soft cases, it zips closed and keeps my eyeglasses safe when I trade them for sunglasses.
The Wingman pair is exceptionally stylish and pairs nicely with either professional attire for business trips or a bathing suit at the beach. The wraparound lenses shield the eyes for maximum protection. Thanks to high quality 580G lenses, there is excellent polarization compared to other sunglasses, which is a technology that Costa has patented itself.
They are ideal for any outdoor situation, but are especially reliable around the water (or on the snow for that matter) because of the clear reduction of sun glare from the water on the lenses. They are often marketed to fishermen, but this sly-looking pair of sunglasses is great for everyone from pilots to business folk.
They are not as fragile as some glasses, something I learned when I dropped them a few times proving their strength in construction. When not in use, the hard-shell pouch is the perfect place to store them reducing worry if they slide around on my dashboard or inside my suitcase.
The shape of the Wingman pair resembles those of the popular Aviators style (probably why they both have related flying names), and the lens and frame can be customized on the Costa website with a variety of color combinations. They are also customizable for prescription lenses. The frame wraps gently around the head and fits well on the arch of the nose without being too tight. It also features a helpful no-slip surface that prevents it from drooping down the nose if you begin to sweat in the sun.
Costa offers an excellent service where owners can mail away their pair for repair or adjustments if needed, and a solid warranty insures that you get your money’s worth for the $199 price tag on the Costa website. The entire line of hip sunshades is available there where each pair can be customized with the brand’s patented quality polarized lenses.
