Comfy Terrasoles Shoes for Kicking Around

When you’re out pounding the pavement all day or going up and down the Andes, you need rugged, sturdy shoes that will support your feet well. When you get back to where you’re spending the night, however, the last thing you want to do is keep wearing the shoes you’ve had on all day while you’re having dinner or sipping a well-earned glass of wine. And you’ve gotta have something comfy for the lodge after skiing.

This pair of Terrasoles Tuckerman shoes I’ve been trying out the past month really fit the bill when it’s time to pad around in something comfy. They come in canvas in three colors or a slipper-like fleece material in more colors.

The whole line of Terrasoles are pitched as eco-friendly. The company is a bit vague on the specifics and the “made in China” is always a red flag for the environment, but they do use recycled materials when possible and the packaging is all recycled cardboard/paper printed with soy inks. Consider that aspect to be icing rather than the main reason to buy.

The main selling point of these shoes is that they are light and comfy. These have been my main “wear around the house” shoes for weeks now, but they are sturdy enough to wear down the block for errands. I’ll definitely pack them next time I go on a hike and need something to change into afterwards. They are sized properly and a little cinch strap on this one allows you to make them tighter.

There are sandals, flip-flops, clogs, and slippers, with all of them looking very comfortable without being too dorky. The women’s line also features some ballerina-style shoes and Mary Janes. Most of the Terrasoles shoes list for $50 to $70, so they won’t hit the wallet too hard.

See the store locator on their site for where to go try them on, order direct, or get them from Backcountry.com.
