Charcoal Felt/Buffalo Plaid Spenco Medical Total Support Cold Snap Shoes

comfortable walking shoes

Spenco Medical is known for its comfortable footwear that protects the feet of frequent walkers (not only something that travelers have to cope with, but also teachers, nurses, doctors, and many other professions). Many of their shoes are recommended by foot doctors and all are clinically designed to support the foot for people who are constantly standing, walking, or moving.

At first glance, the Spenco Siesta Cold Snap shoes appear too casual to wear for business travel. The felt exterior is subtle and attractive, almost appearing as a loafer. Inside, they feature a trendy buffalo plaid pattern. Business meetings aside, they are soft, pliable and lightweight making them an easy addition to a carry-on bag. They are ideal for travel days when traipsing through airport terminals can take its toll on your feet.

They come with extra volume in the toe box for ample space even when wearing thicker socks. The heel is carved into a slender shape that cradles the foot and ankle. It also features a semi-curved shape with a biomechanically accurate footbed.

Back to their ideal use…I found them to be perfect for everything from casual weekend strolls around town to even modest workouts when tennis shoes were not required. Tennis shoes can add weight and bulk to a carry-on bag, and these shoes are excellent for walking or lifting weights.

Spenco Medical does not sell these shoes directly on their website; however, these shoes and other Spenco products can be found at websites like Zappos and TheInsoleStore.com. The price point ($80 list) is fair for a lightweight shoe that provides so much support and balance to your feet.

One thing that I have learned over my time on the road is that it is easy to trade space for comfort and body care. These shoes provide the best of both worlds for the busy, space-constrained business traveler.
