Boyt Mach 6 Lite 22″ Expandable Glider Carry-On Bag

By Ramsey

This attractive carry-on bag from luxury luggage purveyor Boyt features an elegant soft siding composed of ballistic nylon that comes in a variety of tasteful colors and resists stains and water (a common problem for those who travel frequently on regional jets and must gate-check their bags exposing them to the weather elements and frequent bag cart dirt). The plethora of carry-on bags on the market is dizzying with all of them having benefits of their own. The stain-resistant material on this bag is certainly one of those benefits as are the protectors on the corners of the bag to bear the shock if the bag were to fall from a luggage cart or out of the trunk of your car.

While this one is a bit pricey, it comes with the benefit of excellent quality and shock-absorbent design which is obvious as you roll it smoothly down the airport terminal. Everyone has their preference between the four-wheeled rolling bags or sturdy, two-wheeled rollers. This bag is the perfect option for those that prefer the latter.

The handle is produced with aircraft-quality aluminum giving it excellent durability. It features a soft-touch handle while the handle on the side of the bag is wrapped in leather making it a cinch to lift no matter which side you choose to lift it. Where most bags fall short is in the wheels department with rollers that either break off, fuse to the casing due to constant friction, or simply wear down to produce a bumpy roll.

Those with smaller carry bags, briefcases, or lunch coolers can easily attach it to the quick-snap handle on the top. The zipper features a special quick repair feature and remains tough even when you pack the bag full with souvenirs. One reason that I like soft-sided bags is that they are great for trips where you may come back with more than you left with since the bag’s fabric can expand a bit as needed. Hard-shell bags may have an expandable zipper layer, but the shell has no room for bulges like this bag.

There is even a leather patch for monograms and an interior garment sleeve making this an ideal gift for the frequent traveler. A separate mesh pocket inside keeps items separated. Its lightweight construction allows you to pack more without topping out on imposed airline limits. A TSA-approved combination lock allows security to get inside while keeping your valuables safe from everyone else if you choose to check the bag.

It retails for as low as $250 at Boyt’s website, at eBags, or at Amazon. The price includes a warranty that covers free repairs to the suitcase even if it is damaged by an airline. Boyt has a respected reputation for high quality in the luggage industry, and this new bag certainly fits the standard well.
