A bulky wallet in your back pocket is not only unsightly, but can also affect your posture while causing back pain. It doesn’t help to sit on that uneven surface for hours and hours at a time especially on a longhaul flight.
Part of the problem is that people tend to carry every card they can get their hands on (are library and pizza delivery loyalty program cards really needed on your travels?).
The Big Skinny wallet is designed to lighten the bulge in your back pocket while also encouraging you to remove the unneeded items from your wallet. These wallets use a special nylon-microfiber that makes them considerably more svelt.
Even if you chose to still keep your wallets packed with stuff, the Big Skinny still makes the load lighter. I rarely carry anything other than my driver’s license, several credit cards, business cards, and cash. After visiting the ATM, however, I can definitely feel the difference in my wallet. Using the Big Skinny, the increased contents takes less space since the nylon is thinner than leather.
In addition, the wallet weighs less because of its material preventing a sagging and bulging back pocket that seemingly taunts pickpockets.
Pockets in this wallet are a tad larger, and the nylon material makes it harder for cards to slide out (sometimes a problem if you have two cards in the same pocket as I sometimes do). The material is machine-washable and water-resistant giving them an excellent durability.
There is also a one-year warranty for a replacement if needed. I wish there were more imaginative colors and patterns versus the traditional brown, grey, black, and occasional pastel Big Skinny offers though. My current wallet is from J. Crew and features more of a preppy stripe look. But, I will gladly switch to a multi-pocket bifold brown wallet if it is more comfortable to carry and sit on for long periods of time.
The full line of wallets featuring longer sizes, bi or trifolds, and female wallets can be seen at the Big Skinny website. The prices are very reasonable; typically $25-35 for a men’s wallet. They are also available on Amazon.com.

I have tried both the Big Skinny and the All-Ett. I personally prefer the leather version of the All-Ett where their logo is a bit more discrete and wallet looks classier.

I’ve had a leather hybrid big skinny now for the past 4 years and it is by far the best thin wallet I have ever owned. The non-slip interior rocks and the quality of the leather is incredible, it still looks brand new. I’ve tried every wallet out there and the big skinny is my favorite of all-time.
