Big Agnes Wolf Mountain 6 Tent

Big Agnes tent for sixWhen you’re car camping and you don’t have to haul your tent around before setting it up, you can afford a little more bulk. And if you’re traveling with family, you might as well make sure everyone’s comfortable, too. The Big Agnes Wolf Mountain 6 tent is a three-season, deluxe car-camping tent that’s got plenty of room.

For me, one of the most important elements of tents (aside from the ability to keep you and the elements separate) is ease of set up. It’s ideal if one person can do it without it becoming a huge production. That’s the case with this tent. The symmetrical design, aluminum poles, plastic clips and press-fit connectors make it easy for one person to cover it all.

The tent body is a lightweight polyester mesh and durable polyester rip-stop, while the tent floor is durable polyester taffeta with a 1,500mm waterproof coating. The tent fly, which has the same waterproof coating, is made of polyester rip-stop fabric. All combine to make a great three-season tent with comfortable cross-ventilation. All the tent’s seams are tapes with waterproof polyurethane tape that’s also solvent-free.

The tent comes with a carrying bag that has long shoulder straps, which actually makes it easier to carry than many other similar tent bags.

I’ve used the Wolf Mountain tent on two short camping outings with my dog, and found it extremely easy to set up. While I didn’t try to cram six adults in the tent, I don’t see how comfortable doing so would be, unless you needed to for warmth.  Three people plus one dog was roomy enough for everyone to have their space and a little more.

Special note: The footprint for the tent is sold separately, so don’t miss that element and then find out too late, when set it up for the first time.

The Wolf Mountain 6 lists for $529.95 on the Big Agnes website. On Amazon, it lists for $432, and on Moosejaw, it lists for $424.
